While many industries are becoming increasingly difficult to break into, this trend does not hold true for the construction industry. February saw a dramatic increase in available positions in the construction sector, the most new open jobs since a peak reached back in July of 2007. So what does this mean for the industry as a whole, and what new opportunities will present themselves to people hoping to join the construction sector? Read on to find out!
Construction Labor Market Has 8-Year High of Available Jobs
Recent information collected by the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey and the National Association of Home Builders showed that approximately 166,000 jobs in the construction industry became available in February of 2015. This happened in conjunction with a slight dip in hiring, though that will no doubt change soon given the number of positions that will need to be filled. The construction industry can count on a steady, even increasing demand for work, as there will always be a need for new infrastructure and updating/repair of existing infrastructure.
How Fast Will the Construction Industry Seek to Fill These Jobs?
The number of open positions in the industry is good news for job seekers. Because of the ever-present demand for reliable, skilled workers, the construction industry will no doubt be looking to fill some of these many open positions throughout the duration of 2015 and beyond. This means that thousands upon thousands of people will have the chance to get involved in an industry that is always growing, improving, and challenging its workers for the better.
Will the Available Jobs Trend in the Construction Industry Continue For Long?
It is difficult to predict whether or not the turnover rate of jobs in the construction industry will hold steady, but it is safe to say that those who take advantage now and pursue a job in the construction labor market will have a high chance of success.
