Every year, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) gives the highly coveted Diamond Awards to members who have completed especially high-quality construction projects. This award is nationally recognized and respected as a signifier of hard work and quality construction. The awards program also serves to encourage responsible asphalt plant operational practices, to cultivate good community relations, and to recognize excellent work. Not only does this prestigious award hold asphalt paving companies to higher standards, but it also works to enhance the public image of any recipient of the award, as well as let consumers know which asphalt plants hold fast to higher standards. Finally, the award improves the image of the asphalt pavement industry, as it demonstrates a corporate commitment to excellence and as well as a commitment to community service throughout the asphalt industry as a whole. The National Asphalt Pavement Association
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) plays a crucial role in the world of asphalt paving. It was originally founded in 1955. Today, it has nearly 1,200 companies as its members, and acts as a standard bearer for excellence. The Diamond program was developed in 1999 as a way to encourage higher standards throughout the industry. Asphalt plants are judged by six factors to be eligible for the award: appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and regulatory compliance, and community relations. In addition to promoting the cultivation and maintenance of excellence with the annual Diamond Awards, NAPA is also the only trade association that exclusively represents the interests of asphalt paving companies and contractors on the national level. NAPA works to support active asphalt research programs, find solutions to environmental issues, and improve the quality of the asphalt industry as a whole. Members of NAPA not only get recognized for awards; we also receive information on the newest technical and educational resources in the asphalt industry.
