You may remember our blog written in January focusing on employee health. At Reliable Contracting, we remain as serious as ever about our employees maintaining good eating habits, in conjunction with an overall healthy lifestyle. We have our first winner of our health challenge, Tresa Baker, who we would like to congratulate and commend for taking control of her health and tracking her eating and exercise habits through the entire month of January. Tresa will receive a $50 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card. We started the contest over in March. We encourage or employees to participate and we’d also like to encourage our readers to take control of their health too, by keeping a food and exercise diary at home!
We also included a section in our monthly newsletter discussing kidney disease and what you can do to help keep your kidneys healthy. Since 26 million American adults currently suffer from chronic kidney disease, it is more important than ever to know how to take care of your kidneys, since they work to cleanse your body. Check out some of the great ways that you can reduce your chances of kidney disease:
- Exercise regularly.
- Avoid using too many painkillers or NSAIDs.
- Eat healthy, whole foods, rather than processed foods.
- Reduce your salt intake.
- Avoid smoking and abusing alcohol
- Limit unhealthy fats.
These are all pretty simple ways to avoid kidney disease. To learn more about keeping your kidneys and body healthy, check out some information from The National Kidney Foundation and check out the complete article here The more educated you are, the better chance you have of avoiding the risks that come with these important organs failing. Reliable wishes you a happy and healthy spring! Get outside and get moving!
