2018 Work Zone Safety: Everybody’s Responsibility
Safety is always a major concern with any construction-related project. At Reliable Contracting, worksite safety is always our top priority. With this in mind, we are constantly striving to ensure that workers and pedestrians are always protected by best practices for safety on the job with any project. For this reason, we are proud endorsers of safe driving practices in and around road and highway zones throughout the year.
Every year, the National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week Campaign is launched across the country during the first week of April. This year, our campaign kicks off during the week of April 8th, in which we will partner with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Transportation (MDOT SHA), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and other municipalities to promote work zone safety. The theme of our 2018 campaign is “2018 Work Zone Safety: Everybody’s Responsibility.”

Mark your calendars for the following dates:
- On Sunday, April 8, 2018, the National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week campaign kicks off! There are two kickoffs sites (one in Baltimore County and the second in Prince George’s County, Maryland).
- This year the Maryland Department of Transportation is acknowledging Wednesday, April 11, 2018, as “Project Orange – Go Orange Day.” On this day, employees at DOT’s, private companies, and other agencies/organizations across the country are encouraged to wear the color orange. If you wish to be featured on the MDOT SHA social media sites for your participation, send a photo of your group to Ms. Lora Rakowski at [email protected] is an easy way for individuals to show their support for work zone safety.
MDOT SHA is proud to participate in National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, and we value our partner participation in providing public education on work zone safety in Maryland. With safety as our top priority, we strive to educate the public on the importance of work zone safety on Maryland roads, and the participation of our partners is what makes this possible for us each year. In working together as drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and workers, we can ensure the collective safety of everyone on the road together.
